Oh no.
She’s bloody done it.
Erin Molan, the Channel Nine sports reporter and former host of The NRL Footy Show, has gone right ahead and ruined rugby league.
One hundred and twenty four years the sport has been played!
Adopted by 70 nations, from Wales to Papua New Guinea, France to Australia, 37-year-old Molan came in with her well-researched facts and incomparable work ethic and ruined it.
Just ask some guy on social media who is so proud and sure of his opinion that he’s used an alias – Munted_Vans.
Erin Molan’s call to action on The NRL Footy Show. Post continues below.
Ray Hadley quoted him this morning on his 2GB radio show, as unsure as any of us about what his username actually means.
“You deserve to die for ruining rugby league,” Mr. Munted posted. But he wasn’t done.
“Die you maggot bitch. I hope someone poisons you. Your husband should be pushing you in front of a car out of embarrassment.”
The only reason Mamamia has chosen to republish the words of Mr. Munted is because we are aware Molan has already heard them. This will not be a shock to her.

People are upset at Fatty's axing. That's it. The start and the end. I think they would have been fine with Erin being on there at the same time with Fatty remaining as well. But when Fatty left, the show just crashed down to earth and disintegrated. Bring Fatty back, and with Erin remaining, there would be no issue. It's the sacking of Fatty that really is where the beef lies. The truth is, Fatty and the show's following left when he left. Erin never stood a chance from day one.
The comments made about her are truly vile and those who made them should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. However, there is a conspiracy theory that with Peter Costello now the head of Nine network, and Erin's father being former Liberal Senator Jim Nolan, that that is how Erin got the job. Perhaps if she was kept on at nine but in another hosting gig (hey, even a newsreader maybe? Sports newsreader?), and Fatty brought back in, things would go back to normal and everyone would be happy.
Yeah that's why it's a complicated issue for Nine.
1) The Footy Show has been rubbish since around 2010, but the way Vautin was axed in 2017 annoyed fans.
2) Molan is quite good as the main host, but her lack of rugby league knowledge hinders her contribution. Especially as it contrasts to the female hosts on FOX, who have quite in-depth knowledge of the sport.
3) Politics. Both Molan and Johns have close mutual friends within Nine, the NRL, and the Federal Government, so nobody knows how to handle this situation.
Vilification is indeed barbaric.
It's over the top and those spouting the death threats etc need to be brought back into line.
If someone is unpopular then they r unpopular.
Not too all but as we know from politics it's the unsilent minority that grab the headlines.
You've listed the achievements and hurdles erin has put behind her..
My point is tho your article on alan jones who has achieved far more for rural australia , the downtrodden etc etc .
Yet your points of interest include jacinta Arden. His 4mill salary. His other comments u have tucked away for past present and future reference. Yet your comments regarding Alan's death threats are , quote..
"Threatening to ‘kill’ Alan Jones feels not only barbaric, but lazy given how easy his actual ideas are to argue with."
I'm interested in your perceived comment of laziness of death threats...
How can a death threat be classified as lazy ?
Is that a lesser threat than death itself?
Either way. I believe in moderation and free speech.
Reading too much into it.
It just means it's lazy to attack someone instead of refuting their argument.
