@laura__palmer well generally men are more interested in things and women are more interested in people. This was demonstrated in a study by Simon Baron-Cohen (yes, Borat's cousin) where they looked at babies and how they reacted to different objects. As a result men tend to be better at object based stuff (e.g. Fixing stuff) and women tend to be better at nurturing. This is also demonstrated in the animal kingdom where females are more strongly inclined to care for their young than males.

@mamamia-user-482898552 True, you can buddy up with a friend, but I'd argue that its better if it's a member of the opposite sex as there's a much better chance that you will have complimentary skill sets. Additionally a romantic partnership, despite the high divorce rates, probably has a better chance of surviving long term than two friends where there probably a good chance one of them could find a romantic parter and move out.

This is nothing new. Partnering up is what people have done for thousands of years to survive. The best thing you can do (especially when there are children involved) is to find a decent partner and battle it out together.

@bec_l it's not a human right. You can't force companies to stock sizes that aren't going to earn them money.

Let's face it, in a cost of living crisis the opposition (regardless of who is in power) would have made this a talking point. And the point about a man's suit doesn't make sense as a man might wear that suit 50-100 times whereas a dress like this may only be worn a few times.

@anonymous well not all men....

yeahyepyes May 6, 2024

@laura__palmer things are a lot better than how they were a few decades ago!

@laura__palmer I think it's important for everyone's mental wellbeing to not believe the media hype that things are getting worse and to acknowledge that what we've been doing is having a positive impact

yeahyepyes May 3, 2024

@dizzythewolf yes you are

@laura__palmer actually in many regards things have gotten better. We know that intimate partner homicide has been on the decline since the 80s (reducing by about 60-70% for female victims). There's also been a steady decline of domestic violence.

yeahyepyes April 29, 2024

@anonymous It doesn't really serve anyone for him to lose.his job. Presumably he was paying child support. If he lost his job that would dry up pretty quickly.

I don't think the question really helps anyone. Sure it makes for some entertaining videos, however logically it doesn't make any sense to answer bear. When more than 99% of men you encounter don't cause.you any harm and in some parts of the world it's illegal to be outside WITHOUT a gun due to bear attacks, any answer other than man is a joke, misinformed or just hyperbolic.

The question is also pretty divisive and offensive, suggesting that men, in general, are more dangerous than bears. Given that some racial groups are vastly overrepresented in committing domestic violence, imagine the uproar if this question was.changed to be "Would you rather be stuck in the woods with a man (of certain race) or a bear?".

I find it a little perplexing that people are shocked that a Catholic school is enforcing standards with one of these being dressing somewhat modestly. Surely part of the reason these girls are attending a religious school is to learn and be instructed in the Catholic ways which includes dressing modestly.

@Cait I agree. I want to see more mothers with babies in arms on roller coasters, in mosh pits and on the Sydney Harbour bridge climb. It's their right!

I think it's reasonable that he asked them to leave. It distracted him and was going to risk disrupting the show for the other 700 people there.

yeahyepyes April 14, 2024

I think there's going to have to be a lot more investigating before we know what motivated this man to do what he did. Shoppings centres are frequented overwhelmingly by women (70% to 80%) which could explain the disparity. Also important to acknowledge that devastatingly, women and children are less able, on the whole, to defend themselves from a physical attack than men, so if someone wanted to cause as much devastation as possible, then women and children would be a likely target.

@peanutgallery the media is reporting he was suffering from schizophrenia.

yeahyepyes April 12, 2024

@laura__palmer it's fun to complain

yeahyepyes April 12, 2024

Oh great. Another article to promote only fans and Polyamory.

I'm pretty darn sure that exclusion of men is part of the artwork and this lawsuit is really just a logical extension of the art. Let's face it, women would be pissed off if their was a men only exhibition and most likely launch their own lawsuit.
